Nonetheless, your feedback has been a big help and I’ve spoken directly with my product manager about your concerns. You can double-check this by viewing the generated HTML and inspecting the output for the corresponding SVG file. Even so, this imported asset still preserves SVG data and retains its clarity after resizing in the editor or prototype. ( Rachel’s post is a good reference for that part of the workflow I also went ahead and added a small edit to my post to clarify.)Īs you mention, the SVG data of a Sketch layer are imported into RP initially as an individual image widget. You can also use “Copy SVG Code” in Sketch for multiple layers at a time. Hopefully that can help as an alternative to going through the lengthier export process. Thanks for the feedback! When copying/pasting from Sketch, were you able to do so by selecting “Copy SVG Code” after right-clicking the layer? Since SVG data aren’t included via a simple copy in Sketch, the option “Copy SVG Code” would need to be selected. In addition, it would be great if Sketch shared styles were transferred over as Axure styles, if possible. I essentially have to build my widget component library twice, in order to use both tools, which is very tedious. It is a huge drawback at the moment, having to manually recreate assets in Axure all the time. We honestly need a legitimate and seamless solution for moving assets back and forth between Sketch and Axure. Once again, that will not work because it just ends up being one combined bitmap with all the layers flattened. Finally, I want to be able to just copy a whole bunch of layers at once or an entire artboard in Sketch and paste it directly into Axure. The only way to get it in as an SVG is to go through the whole export process in Sketch and save the SVG image as a file and then drag that image into Axure. First of all, why do I have to convert an SVG to a shape at all? Why doesn’t it do that immediately as soon as I paste an SVG? Secondly, if I copy/paste from Sketch, it ends up being a bitmap, not an SVG. This doesn’t work in any sort of convenient way, unfortunately. Please reconsider this roadmap time schedule or at the VERY least, please open up Axure with an API that enables someone to write a 3rd party sketch importer themselves. Axure should allow Sketch import to one-up that and add export of animations and interaction notes as well. Right now, a lot of houses use Sketch + Zeplin to share output CSS with developers. It would be clear within organizations that Axure can assist in bringing reality to the customer a lot faster. ![]() This would enable the world of static high fi mockups to be pulled into a working app immediately. ![]() If there were one feature that is critical to add to Axure imminently, I would say it is adding Sketch and other SVG layered & grouped import into Axure. So many houses are using the Sketch ->Invision (slideshow) or Sketch -> Flinto route or Framer.Īxure is way more powerful than those solutions and can make a far richer prototype, but is handcuffed by the lack of bringing mockups from other designers’ flows into this rich tool. If so, that is a major hiccup that will prevent Axure’s wider adoption. The PNGs can be used as image widgets. Are you saying here that it is not on the current roadmap (near future) to have Axure support vector input from Sketch? The SVG files can be converted to Shapes in Axure (drag in an SVG, right-click it and choose “Convert to Shape”) -then it can be resized, recolored, broken apart, etc. On their Icons page they only have downloadable SVG and PNG files (both of which you can use in Axure RP as regular icons. It looks like the new Google Fonts site does not provide a download link for the Material icons font. Follow instructions to set up the Web Font and Font Mapping if you need to use the icons in an online prototype (or any local computer with web access but that doesn’t have the Material Icons font installed.) ( full details about web fonts in Axure are here). You can then use that font in Axure RP locally. ![]() Download, unzip and install on your local computer. This thread has a link to download the Material icons font from Github. You can take a look a this thread, started over 3 years ago. ![]()
